Pastor

Rev Rick & Sis Beverly Simpson
His parents are Billy & Chloe Simpson. He was born in Chicago, Illinois on April 30th  1966. His father had moved there from Kentucky to find work.  But soon after, they moved back to Kentucky when he was about eight and lived near the infamous Harlan, Kentucky (Bloody Harlan as some may know it plus Country singer Brad Paisley's Hit song "You'll Never Leave Harlan Alive) is where he was raised.  His dad worked hard in the coal fields to make a living. His brother‘s and brother-law still work in the coal mines to this day.  He graduated from Leslie County High School in Hyden, Kentucky.

But on June 29th 1983, there was a major change that came to his life.  As a seventeen year old boy he went to a revival meeting at Stinnett Gap Church of God at Stinnett, KY. After hearing the glorious Gospel of Jesus Christ preached he felt his need for God and realized he was a sinner. That’s when he walked down to an old fashion altar and surrendered his life to Christ. Gloriously saved, he began to seek after the baptism of the Holy Ghost and six months later was filled with the Spirit of God.  It was between his junior and senor year of high school.  He quit the football team to devote more time for God and attend Revivals. H e would hitch hike to church and anywhere there was a revival or special meeting going on he would be there.  Through the rain & snow it didn’t matter. His love for God early on was very evident.

A little over a year later, he married his wife to be, Beverly Nolan. On October 16, 1984 they joined hands in holy matrimony (they just celebrated their 25th Wedding Anniversary October 16, 2009). God began to bless the young Simpson family. Their first child Sabrina was born on May 18, 1987. She, is now  the  wife  of  Jonathan Prickett. The Youth Pastor at Summit Holiness Church. God has blessed Jonathan & Sabrina with one child, Kailee Grace.  Then, Brother & Sister Simpson were blessed with a second child, Hope.  She was born September 1, 1992 and has been a tremendous asset to his ministry through her singing and wonderful spirit. Finally came their third and last child. God smiled and gave them Isaac. He was born on January 6, 1999.  He is the full-time drummer at Summit Holiness Church and his father’s pride and joy.

Early in their marriage God called Brother Simpson into the ministry. It was April 1988 that he began to fell the burden to preach the gospel. He had worked a full-time job up until that time. But God began to burden his heart for the souls of men dying and going to Hell. After much prayer and fasting he quit his job and began to evangelize full-time. Which in his area at that time was unheard of and basically very unpopular. No one in his family had ever done anything like that. Still, though there wasn’t much encouragement  from those around him he set out like Abraham “not knowing” were to go or what to expect. But God blessed his efforts with many souls being saved all across America.

He has Evangelized full-time all together about 8 years. Their first camper was a slide-in camper shell and first truck was a 1977 Ford ¾ ton  with lots of rust.  They will never forget it! Then, a 16 ½ ft Nomad camper, then, a Coachman 22ft,  then, a Holiday Rambler 32ft fifth whee l, and finally, a Travel Supreme 40ft triple slide.  His two daughters have played a major part in his ministry, in their singing.  Brother Simpson would preach, Sister Simpson would pray and the two daughters would sing night after night.

Brother Simpson, is also a Songwriter. He has written several songs in the last few years that has been recorded by National known groups. In 2008 he had three radio singles with two charting on The Singing News Charts. He was also privileged to write an article for Enlighten 34 XM Radio Web Page which is the Southern Gospel Home on XM Radio in 2008. They, wanted a story behind the song. "Sinner's Prayer" (a song Bro. Simpson had wrote and recorded by The Gressons) was touching many lives,  Marlin of Enlighten 34 said. Also, Paul Heil of The Gospel Greats radio program added "Sinner's Prayer" to his web page (thegospelgreats.com) on his FREE GIFT link.  His latest cut, came by a National known group called  Karen Peck & New River. She recorded a song he wrote entitled "Why Should I Worry" and it became the title song on her latest project "No Worries". As of March, 2010 Karen Peck has released "Why Should I Worry" has their next Radio Single for 2010. As of now (July 15, 2010) it is # 4 on the Singing News Charts for September 2010. Currently, he's had almost twenty groups record his songs in the last few years. Plus, he has several songs with Daywind, Crossroads and Rebecca Peck Publishing Company to be recorded in the near future. He also has held Pastoral positions in Middlesboro, KY, Hazard, KY and also pioneered a Church in Pineville, KY where his mother still attends.  But now, since August 2007 he has been the Pastor of Summit Holiness Church. We are looking for God to do great things at SHC.
